Company
History
Moon
Butterfly Herbals officially began in July
2002. After the birth of our son in May
the desire to start a business became more pronounced and the specifics
came
together once a friend expressed interest in using the Massage &
Body Oils
in her massage practice. The scents of Massage & Body Oils and Bath
Salts
offered were direct suggestions by her and her clients. Over the past 3
years
the product line has grown to include Floral Waters, Organic Healing
Salves,
Organic Lip Balms and Insect Repellant, all of which have been
developed from
suggestions by family, friends and customers.
Experience
Tanya
Shersnow is a graduate from Franklin
Pierce College in Rindge, NH. She holds a Bachelor of the Arts degree
with a
major in Environmental Science and minors in Biology and Dance. During
her
years at FPC she held many officer positions for the Environmental
Awareness
Club, Students Defending Animals and the Amnesty International Chapter
and
performed in the annual dance concerts. In her junior and senior years
she was
a work study student for Professor Catherine Owen Koning who’s research
studies
focused on wetlands ecology. In Tanya’s senior year she defended a
thesis that
identified vernal pools and viable Spotted Salamander and Wood Frog
populations
on the FPC Rindge campus. Since
graduating from FPC Tanya has worked in
two environmental consulting firms and was a Campus Organizer and
Summer
Canvasser for MassPIRG. For the past 4 years she has worked in the
Whole Body
department at Whole Foods Market and attends the annual Northeast
Women’s
Herbal Conference in Peterborough, New Hampshire. She is a member of
the National Geographic Society, the Northeast Herbalists Association,
Organic Consumers Association and
the Massachusetts Audubon Society. Tanya’s
knowledge of the medicinal and
therapeutic uses of herbs through product trainings and personal
research and
her intimate knowledge of the impacts of human activity on the
environment has
led her to search for the highest quality organic and wildcrafted
ingredients
in food, clothing, body care and supplements for her and her family and
friends. ![]() Tanya & Gwen at the North Quabbin Garlic & Arts Festival in Orange, MA September 14, 2005 Retail
